cause you were born on concrete

from the blest creator
resting in the hay

could the world do anything
would it just be the same
they already wiped their fingers
upon your private name

so how could it be fixed
what really could be said
when their sticky fantasies
have already soiled the bed

& you know that no one knows
of the time that you took flight
with your babes against your breast
thru cold and squealing night

grandma said that 'everything
returns to the same Earth'
but mum's been limping all her life
to hold the unsolved hurt

 

now it wants to fix things
it asks "what can I say"
but grandma left so long ago
to planes so far away

and everyones opinions
are spinning in your veins
and you've not found anything
that can lift the stains

now I guess it's noticed
but now what could be done?
when will it get pure within
the Great Eternal Sun?

law-mans pen
your little birds
are crying again

church-mans word
the fathers pen
the things they heard
the things you meant

what could it say
and what could it do
it doesn't even know
what it's done to you

and you couldn't even teach
what it doesn't even know
and the path here was so steep

and you're only just arrived
and now you have to go

what could the world do to make it up to you
